Political ecologies of Nkaneng, Marikana mining settlement

In reading M&G and found this article in the commemoration and continuous investigation of the Marikana massacre, two years ago on 16 Aug 2012.

It's by Crispen Chinguno a PhD fellow at Univ of Wits in sociology. He develops some of the historical conditions under which the auto constructed mining settlements have developed since the end of apartheid, and the conditions of living there now with no running water, scarce electricity, schooling, high crime. And how little of the "super profits" when platinum prices were high has gone to workers but through share holder owning pushed salaries down instead.
